Rebecca Morrison, PhD
Dr. Rebecca Morrison holds multiple degrees, including a PhD in Special Education and Applied Behavioral Analysis, master’s in Educational Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work.
Dr. Morrison has also had a distinguished career in various capacities including serving as an Adjunct Professor for Special Education and Applied Behavioral Analysis for Ohio State University. She has also published numerous educational publications and has been a lecturer on the national stage on topics such as: “Teaching Independent Skills to Learners with Autism”, “Behavioral Interventions for Students with Autism”, and “Curriculum Strategies for Children with Disabilities”, just to name a few.
Dr. Morrison has also earned awards for her groundbreaking work and service in the education, autism and special needs community. It is Dr. Morrison’s leadership, dedication and vision that enabled her to found Oakstone Academy Ohio from scratch in 2000, and turn it into a premier elementary, middle and high school institution that develops all children, both typical and those with special needs, to their full potential.
In 2011, a group of Florida families looking for an alternative to the lack of quality educational choices available for both their typical and special needs children teamed up with Dr. Morrison to bring her proven social immersion educational model of excellence to Florida, and with it an opportunity for students whose parents are looking to provide them with a top notch education.
At Oakstone Academy Palm Beach we continue to work with Dr. Morrison, to bring her social immersion educational model to our children and strive to ensure our school is best in class – following in the groundbreaking footsteps of Oakstone Academy Ohio.
Mrs. Krits has served as Principal of Oakstone Academy Palm Beach since October 2011 of our inaugural year. Mrs. Krits earned a Bachelor of Arts in education from Florida Atlantic University, and obtained her master’s degree in educational leadership from University of West Florida. She has her Florida Administrator’s License (K-12), Florida Elementary Teaching License (K-6), ESOL Endorsement, Preschool Staff Credential, and is certified in Cornell University’s Therapeutic Crisis Intervention. Since the foundation of Oakstone Academy Palm Beach, Mrs. Krits was mentored directly by Dr. Rebecca Morrison and her administrative team, and continues to work closely with the Ohio founding leadership to further the Social Immersion Model.
Mrs. Krits has previously worked for the Palm Beach County School District, including for Title I schools where she assisted students in need of remediation and high performers. She has a broad range of teaching experiences and has taught children from diverse cultural, economic, and learning backgrounds, including students with exceptional needs (“ESE”) as well as gifted students. She has experience in teaching mandatory testing grade levels, has served as a grade chair for several years in a large school, and has taught after-school and summer tutorials for students who required remediation in certain academic areas.
Mrs. Krits’ experience in all aspects of teaching and related administrative practices such as drafting Individualized Education Plans (“IEP”), gifted referrals, observational record development, differentiation, behavior management, and student data aggregation, make her an ideal complement to the Oakstone Academy team, enhancing the ability for Oakstone Academy to serve its diverse students needs. Her educational philosophy is geared towards providing access to academic rigor and opportunities for social development that are tailored to students of varying skill levels.
Administrator & Navy Team Lead Teacher
Mrs. Gaby Jerome is a teacher and administrator at Oakstone Academy Palm Beach. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2013. She has been an Oakstone staff member since November 2012. Prior to joining the Oakstone team, she worked for one year as a behavior assistant, implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapeutic programs for children with developmental delays. During that time, she worked with children one-on-one in their homes, as well as shadowing students in school. In 2008, she lived in the Bahamas for one year. While she was there, she worked in an orphanage and taught children of various ages ranging from kindergarten through 11th grade. She is a proud mother of two unique little girls.
Administrator & Teacher
Drew McGeary is a teacher and administrator at Oakstone Academy and a proud father of two. He graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and a minor in psychology. After graduation, he began teaching middle school mathematics with the Diocese of Palm Beach County. Mr. Drew joined Oakstone Academy Palm Beach in 2012, teaching upper level math and assisting in the sciences. Having a son on the autism spectrum has given Mr. Drew a strong desire to teach other similar students and to help each of his students reach their full potential.
Administrator & Purple Team Lead Teacher
Rebecca Davis is a teacher and administrator at Oakstone Academy. She earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Florida in 2012 with a major in English literature and minors in German and zoology. After graduation, she worked overseas in Germany as a Foreign Language Assistant through the Fulbright program for one year, teaching English to students at the middle and high school level. She began her career as an educator in 2013 as a high school teacher in the field of English Language Arts. During her time there, she became a Certified Classroom Teacher in the area of English 6-12. Ms. Davis joined the Oakstone staff in 2014. In her free time, she is a life-long learner who enjoys reading, art in all of its forms, and the pure joy of discovery.
Green Team Lead Teacher
Cierra Hall joined Oakstone in January 2018 and teaches kindergarten and 1st grade. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in English literature from Florida Atlantic University. She has a certificate in Basic Clinical Skills and is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Cierra’s previous experience consists of working as a Resident Assistant for on-campus housing where she gained extensive training with working with diverse student populations and handling crisis management. She is passionate about seeing students make great academic and social gains. When she’s not teaching, Cierra enjoys yoga, traveling, and being a college mentor for minority high school students.
Yellow Team Lead Teacher
Hailey Beard leads the 2nd and 3rd grade classroom, Yellow Team. She has a Bachelor of Science in psychology and also studied education at Palm Beach Atlantic University. She is working toward a master’s degree in mental health counseling at the University of Palm Beach Atlantic, and plans to graduate May 2021. Although this is her first year with Oakstone, she has been working in a classroom setting for about 5 years. She worked with high school students for 5 years with the organization called Young Life, including a subgroup called Capernaum for special needs children. She also worked as a personal assistant/ marketing director to the CEO of the nonprofit organization, Impact World. During college, she worked as a Resident Assistant for two years, growing professionally and relationally. She has backpacked through Europe and is SCUBA diver certified. She enjoys anything with an adventure whether it involves traveling or a great book and a cup of coffee.
Jared Kelly graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Lee University in 2015. He hopes to one day practice pediatric medicine. Mr. Jared joined Oakstone in 2019, and is teaching middle school level science and math courses to Maroon and Purple Team students. His passion is teaching students about the natural world. Mr. Jared’s first teaching foray began through becoming a karate teacher for Garrison Martial Arts in 2010. He later worked as a chess instructor with Palm Beach Chess for one year. He is passionate about showing students how physics, chemistry and biology fit together intricately to create the world we see. Mr. Jared enjoys helping students learn to solve seemingly complex problems.
Alicia Goodman joined the Oakstone Academy staff in 2019 and has been working in the field of education for seven years as a teacher assistant. She is currently assisting in Yellow Team, our 2nd and 3rd grade classroom. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master of Arts in speech-language pathology. After leaving the corporate world and spending time in various workplace settings (hospitals, nursing facilities, etc.), Alicia finally found a place she felt she could truly make a difference – schools! Outside of school, she loves to jog and spend time with her beautiful twin boys!
Teacher Aide / Aftercare
Trae Payne, originally from Opelousas, Louisiana, has been a teacher’s assistant and aftercare teacher at Oakstone Academy since 2018. He received a formal education from South Louisiana Community College and followed that with a culinary degree. His certifications include Planning for Emergencies, Child Safety and Prevention, Safety in the Environment, and Supporting the Social and Emotional Development of Children in Mixed-Age Groupings. He has an extensive background providing leadership and mentorship to children of various ages in an educational setting. Mr. Payne was a volunteer defensive line coach at William T. Dwyer High School for one year. Sports are his passion, but he is driven by contributing to the community and nurturing individual potential, so that the youth have unlimited options in the future.
