2020 Fall Reopening Plan

After carefully examining the COVID-19 situation in Palm Beach County and considering the health and safety of all Oakstone community members, we have decided to delay the start to the 2020-2021 school year. On August 24th we plan to reopen with a dynamic and robust virtual program. Special needs students who require supplemental support may be able to benefit from scheduled individual sessions to support their needs. This decision is subject to change based on evolving public health conditions. We remain flexible and ready to reopen campus as soon as public health conditions permit. We want to open our doors as soon as it is possible and safe to do so. This remains a fluid situation that is revisited regularly. It is our hope that viral load and infection rate data will decline as soon as possible, at which time we will pivot to an in-person instruction model.

This year’s virtual learning experience will be a high-quality, fun, and interactive program, reflective of OAPB’s own curricula. We plan to streamline the virtual learning experience in order to help students interact with the curricula with more guidance and fewer frustrations. Our wonderful teachers will be offering core academics, as well as other courses. Accommodations and differentiation will be integrated into the curriculum just as we do when offering instruction in a physical setting.

We thank our community members for their feedback during our deliberations regarding fall reopening. We know the best place for children to be is at school. We understand that perspectives on school closures vary. We will not hesitate to make changes to this plan in response to continually shifting conditions in our county. We look forward to serving students on campus safely.
