Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if Oakstone is right for my child?
Choosing a school for your child can be challenging, especially when there are so many choices. Just as children and their needs are different, so are schools in their ability to meet those needs. Oakstone Academy offers a challenging curriculum in an atmosphere that is more personal than you would find at a public school. Class sizes are small, which allows students to set their own learning pace.
How does Oakstone benefit from my typically developing child?
Aside from small class sizes with multiple teachers per class, Oakstone provides a comprehensive education. Our curriculum is designed to facilitate learning for a wide range of students and learning styles, from the gifted or advanced student to the student who requires more assistance. Students are able to work at an accelerated pace without taking them away from their age-appropriate peer group. Finally, studies have shown that typical students in inclusive settings demonstrate an increase in leadership skills, self-esteem and greater fluency in academic performance (Peck, Carlson, Helmstetter, 1992).
Do you offer before and aftercare?
Before and aftercare is provided to our students by our Oakstone teaching staff. Before care is $60/week, and aftercare is $80/week.

May my child visit Oakstone to see if it’s a good fit?
Yes, we offer a Discovery Day for prospective students. After being dropped off in the morning, your son or daughter will spend the day with our staff and fellow students as a special guest. Each prospective student attends classes, recess, lunch and the other activities with his or her class. Contact admin if you are interested in scheduling a Discovery Day for your child.
